Marc Mazataud combines the running of "Archipel Volcans", a gîte well situated for these open-air activities, with his work as a hang gliding instructor and a mountain guide.
He is fully familiar with the Auvergne's natural environment. Displaying a passion for the region's volcanoes he explains why each year, fun seekers and adventure lovers head to the Auvergne to live out their passion to the full.
"The Puy de Dôme is the Auvergne's most emblematic paragliding site. The site’s characteristics are absolutely extraordinary. As an example, it enables you to take off in any direction, regardless of which way the wind is blowing. For beginners, there are no dangerous obstacles such as power lines or cliffs, etc. For their part, experienced pilots appreciate the confluence of the breezes from the plains and the local gusty weather conditions allowing for flights at very high altitudes.
The region's other sites can be found on the Massif du Sancy (Puy de la Tâche, Puy de l'Angle, etc) or on the Limagne hills (Saint-Sandoux and Pic d'Ysson)."
"The Auvergne proposes a wide range of exciting sports. With hang gliding, hot air ballooning or parachuting, everyone will find something they enjoy! As these leisure activities are dependent upon the weather conditions, try to arrive during good weather if possible! They will give you an opportunity to admire the extraordinary patchwork quilt of landscapes which makes the Auvergne so unique.
Take a flight across the Auvergne's volcanoes in a tourist aircraft, microlight or helicopter and discover our marvellous natural environment from the sky."
