Whether in summer or winter, have fun exploring the line of peaks stretching for 40 km (25 miles) through the Massif du Forez (Forez range) and reaching up to 1,640 m (5,380 ft).
Prabouré is the perfect small winter sports resort for your holiday. Situated in the Forez hills near the village of Saint-Anthème and the Col des Supeyres (Supeyres Pass), the whole family can enjoy all the fun of snow sports here, including cross-country skiing, downhill skiing, snowshoeing or sledding.
Downhill skiing on 5 slopes and also:
• 1 sledding slope for young children
• 1 children’s play area equipped with a rope tow
• 1 sledding slope
The Forez hills between the Puy-de-Dôme and the Haute-Loire also include hundreds of miles of cross-country ski slopes. At less than an hour from Clermont-Ferrand and Saint-Etienne, in the heart of the Livradois-Forez regional nature park, the Crêtes du Forez Nordic sports area covers 35 km (22 miles) from Le Brugeron in the north to Saint-Anthème in the south.
Snowshoeing: 33 km (20 miles) of trails
Dogsledding: 8 km (5 miles) of trails at La Roche
Cross-country skiing: 134 km (83 miles) of slopes
Do you prefer the gentle summer heat (which is not stifling at the high altitudes encountered in the Forez hills)?
Horse riding is a tradition in the Forez area. No surprise then that you'll find a large number of equestrian centres here, offering activities suitable for all ages and abilities (including guides, treks and classes, etc).
Afterwards, why not try some of the local culinary specialities including cooked meats, Fourme d’Ambert cheese or a bilberry tart, a product which has become something of a local institution and which has given rise to the festival of the same name held on August 15 in Saint-Pierre-la Bourlhonne. We strongly recommend that you take the time to sample these dishes in the cool and relaxed atmosphere of a jasserie (a mountain farm).
Enjoy a welcome change of scenery during your stay in the Forez hills.
