Starting
point for one of the roads to Santiago de Compostela, Le
Puy-en-Velay is home to several architectural treasures.
Notre-Dame du Puy Cathedral, with its Black Madonna, is
on UNESCO’s World Heritage List. The Romanesque Saint-Michel
chapel sits atop a volcanic rock and the statue of Notre-Dame
de France watches over the Ponote city. Le Puy-en-Velay
is also the land of green lentils and hand-made lace.
Business tourism, while less well known, is
also growing. Meetings can be held in the imposing Pierre
Cardinal Building and the Vals-près-le-Puy culture
and leisure centre.
